Daily Employee Wellness Screening

Cynthia Dill BSN, RN

AMI Team,

As directed by the New Jersey Department of Health and Division of Consumer Affairs and in accordance with current CDC recommendations on outpatient ambulatory care during COVID-19.  We will begin screening all AMI employees prior to entering our facilities on 06/08/2020 for potential COVID-19 symptoms and body temperature above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit. We will continue screening employees until the state guidelines indicate it is no longer required.

At this point, you should have received specific guidance from your individual office OA as to the locations of thermometers and ORS scanning postings.

The updated  Employee Health Policy regarding the COVID-19 employee screenings was sent through Paycom today. Employees are also required to sign an acknowledgment in Paycom of having read this policy.

WHEN WORKING INSIDE AN AMI FACILITY:

  • TAKE YOUR TEMPERATURE PRIOR TO THE START OF ALL SHIFTS
  • COMPLETE SCREENING FORM DAILY FOR EACH SHIFT WORKED
  • WHEN EXHIBITING POTENTIAL SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19- ENSURE YOU ARE DISCUSSING WITH MANAGER OR EMPLOYEE HEALTH
  • DO NOT REPORT TO WORK IF TEMPERATURE IS FOUND TO BE ABOVE 100.4 F

Evaluating Temperature:

  • Normal temperatures range can vary between 96.0 -100.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Readings can be subject to fluctuations based on many factors. Some factors include:

    • Metabolic and other factors: Age (specifically elderly), medical disorders, infection, inflammation, and some medications.
  • Temperatures should be evaluated utilizing temporal or oral thermometers only.
  • General instructions for thermometer use are included however, you should always defer to manufacturer instructions and guidelines for individual thermometers when assessing temperature.
  • Temporal infrared scanning thermometers should not be used in a place with strong sunlight or extreme environmental temperature fluctuations.
  • Reusable thermometers should be cleaned between use per individual manufacturer guidelines.
  • Disposable oral thermometers should be discarded inappropriate waste bin after completion of use.
  • Reusable oral thermometers should only be used with appropriate covers and cleaned in between use following manufacturer guidelines.
  • If a reading appears to be inaccurate or in error a different thermometer should be utilized for comparison and OA should be made aware.
