Atlantic Medical Imaging’s Employee Weight Loss Challenge

The twelve week program is designed to help you lose weight and kick start a healthy lifestyle by promoting healthier eating, encouraging physical activity and creating a supportive work environment.  Throughout the challenge, we will provide resources and education to help support your weight loss goals.

About the Program

The twelve week program will run from Monday, March 9, 2015 thru May 29, 2015.  The program is open to all AMI employees and radiologists.

Registration Fee: $10 per participant with a matching donation from AMI.

Weigh-in: The initial weigh-in will be the week of March 9, 2015.  Your weigh-in date can be any day of the week that works best for you. We recommend that you weigh-in the same day each week so that you can keep on track to reach your weight loss goal.  The final weigh-in will be the week of May 25, 2015.

Each office will have a designated record keeper who will weigh all participants and track their progress. No one else will see a participant’s weight. The scale in each office has been approved for the challenge.

Each office will have a board showing all participants’ progress in your office. Only the participant’s name and percentage of weight lost will be listed each week. Your weight will not be listed.  Participants can view all participants’ weekly progress on the myatlanticmedicalimaging.com website.

Weight Loss Calculation

The weekly weight loss will be based on percentage of total weight loss.  This is a fairer comparison than total pounds lost since heavier persons can safely lose weight more rapidly. The winner of the weight loss challenge will be the participant with the highest percentage of weight loss at the end of the 12 week challenge.

Example calculation:

1. Beginning weight – Ending weight = Pounds lost

2. (Pounds lost ÷ Beginning weight) X 100 = % weight loss

Note: The week over week calculation will be based on current week weight minus beginning weight ÷ beginning weight.

Grand Prize Winners

The grand prize winners of the weight loss challenge will be the participants with the highest percentage of weight loss at the end of the 12 week challenge. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 participants with the highest percentage weight loss (1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded).  The grand prize money will appear in the participant’s paycheck following the end of the weight loss challenge.

Monthly Office Winner

In addition to promoting healthier eating and encouraging physical activity, we want to create a supportive work environment.  This year we are adding a monthly office winner.  The monthly office winner of the weight loss challenge will be the office with the highest percentage of weight loss at the end of the month.  Note: participants that miss more than 1 weigh-in for the month will not be included in the weight loss percentage calculation for their office.

Weight Maintenance Winners

We all know that it is a challenge to lose weight over a designated period of time but it is even more of a challenge to maintain that weight loss.  This year we will add a prize to the individual (or individuals) that maintain their weight loss through the end of the year.  Participants that maintain their weight within 2 pounds of the weight at the end of the challenge will be the winners.

All prizes will be based on the registration fees collected.  With the exception of the grand prize winners, all other prizes awarded will be at the discretion of the wellness committee. 

Getting Started

Signup sheets will be available in each office. Participants must sign up and pay registration fee by Friday, March 13, 2015.

Check out our website, my.atlanticmedicalimaging.com, for weekly tips, recipes, and other health related articles. On this site you can also find a list of apps, for smart phones and the web, to aid you during the weight loss challenge. The apps include tools such as exercise and food trackers, recipe finder, and more.

Rules And Regulations

After the initial weigh-in, participants must weigh-in once a week at the office where they had their initial weigh-in.

Participants can miss no more than 1 weigh-in a month, or they will be unable to win that month’s prize.

Weight loss should be the result of healthier eating and exercise habits. Participants are on the honor system and should participate in a healthy and fair manner.


Diet pills (herbal or prescription appetite suppressants, metabolism enhancers, etc
Water pills (diuretics) unless prescribed for a medical condition such as high blood pressure
Laxatives and colonics
